Description:

The Clinical Account Executive is responsible for managing and coordinating the clinical relationship between the company and the assigned clients as part of PBM (Pharmacy Benefits Management). The clinical account executive works directly with the client Account Manager by supporting plan review presentations for PBM clients and day-today client management as a clinical resource, with a key focus on formulary management, clinical recommendations, and outcomes reporting. The CAE is required to review prescription plan designs and make client specific recommendations for cost containment purposes without compromising qualify medication therapy. A clear understanding of utilization management (prior authorizations, step therapy, quantity limits, and formulary exclusions) as it relates to formulary recommendations and cost management is important. This position may be asked to provide input in some cases and help communicate the recommendations to the client. The critical function of a CAE is to improve the quality of medication treatment while providing recommendations to control and reduce overall health care costs. This position will represent the company at internal and external meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative active management of day-to-day clinical service supporting the sales and implementation of the company's clinical programs
  • Attend regular face-to-face meetings, along with AM to present reports to PBM clients and present the clinical aspects of these reports. These meetings can be quarterly, bi-annually, or annually.
  • Assist Clinical and Client Services with PBM client formulary updates.
  • Support Client satisfaction by assisting the Account Manager with analyzing PBM reports, identifying trends and providing beneficial client specific recommendations.
  • Works with Account Management team on escalated member PA's and assists in detailed clinical communication to our clients when necessary regarding PA review/denials.
  • Work with the implementation team for new client PBM implementations, including participation in client implementation calls.
  • Present financial and clinical outcomes reports
  • Provide client feedback reports, service, etc.
  • Provide input in PBM reporting of content and design.
  • Exceptional clinical, business and relationship building skills and possesses the ability to apply sound clinical judgment to a variety of situations.
  • Apply current principles and practices of pharmacy, pharmacology, and pharmaceutical/managed care in pharmacy benefit management (PBM) setting.
  • Effectively implement changes to improve the medication use process
  • Willingness to establish effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently, while collaborating with other team members.
  • Ability and willingness to self-motivate, prioritize, and be willing to change processes to improve
  • Ability to analyze, understand, and use statistical report data.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • BSPHARM or PHARMD degree
  • Registered Pharmacist (Current and active license in good standing)
  • Must have 2+ years' experience in PBM
  • Proficiency in drug literature, clinical trials and national guidelines
  • Must have experience working with a sales team to address potential clients needs
  • Team player and contributor
  • Must be comfortable spending 50% of their time traveling
  • Develop, implement and maintain compliance, policies and procedures regarding medical/pharmacy medication utilization management functions
  • Promote compliance with federal and state regulations and contractual agreements
  • Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills.
  • Considerable interpersonal skills
