The Specialty Care Coordinator is the first contact for both referrals to the specialty pharmacy and existing patients.  As such, representatives should strive to build relationships with customers to increase satisfaction, compliance, and referrals.  The Specialty Care Coordinator is also responsible for assisting the pharmacists with necessary administrative tasks.


  • Completes inbound calls from customers, pharmacists, and doctors
  • Performs outbound calls for shipment coordination
  • Schedules prescriptions to assure timely delivery
  • Performs claim adjudication and claim rejection resolution
  • Performs detailed documentation of member's account
  • Performs benefit investigation
  • Completes prior authorization tracking, creation, and verification (PA check)
  • Checking voicemails
  • Prescription transfer request (when allowed by law)
  • Appropriate and Effective Intracompany Communication
  • Other specialty pharmacy duties as assigned. 


  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have an active Missouri Pharmacy Technician License (in good standing)
  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician or be able to complete certification within 6 mos. of employment
  • Prior experience working in a specialty pharmacy or health care setting preferred
  • Prior customer service or call center experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Proficient computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
  • Must be able to work in an office environment using a computer and phone for up to 8 hours a day
  • On occasion, maybe required to stand for up to 8 hours a day
